Short-stay scholarships

3 short-stay scholarships are available for young physicians from a country included in the World Bank listing as Lower-, Lower-middle and Upper-middle income to attend a major headache congress and a research institution or clinic in the same country (or region) as the congress for up to 6 weeks.

Eligibility: Currently an under- or post-graduate student (including but not limited to medical students and PhD students) or a medical doctor training to become a specialist. For medical doctors alternatively within 3 years of obtaining medical doctorate or academic post graduate degree or specialist certification, whichever was obtained latest. For other academic groups alternatively within 6 years of obtaining latest academic degree who are resident in one of the listed countries.

Award value: Eur 6,000

Headache Trainee Programme

IHS is offering a Headache Trainee Programme to a young physician from a country included in the World Bank listing as Lower-, Lower-middle and Upper-middle income to work at a major headache centre of choice for up to 12 weeks

Eligibility: Within 7 years from completion of their neurology training, who are resident in any of the listed countries.

Award value: US$ 10,000

IHS Visiting Professors

The aim of the Visiting Professor initiative is to send headache specialists as representatives of IHS to attend regional meetings, or teach at a headache centre, in countries that might need or want increased headache education and motivation and where, without financial support, attendance of an international specialist would not be possible

IHS will fund two headache specialists to teach at a national or regional meeting/congress. The host country can select topics and suggest at least three specialists who will fit in with their programme. The engagement should comprise at least two lectures and one course/workshop by each specialist. The final decision on the choice of specialists will be made by  the IHS Education Committee

Funding up to US$ 6,000 will be allocated per meeting

IHS Visiting Professors Plus

* New in 2020 *

The Visiting Professors Plus Programme is an extension of the Visiting Professor.

Specifically, the Plus Programme will allow the specialists to spend 2 to 3 days before or after the meeting to help with extended educational needs of the local attendees.

One programme is offered for 2020 on a trial basis.

Funding up to US$ 10,000 will be allocated for the programme
